This is a follow up press release from August 25, 2018 as to the death investigation that was started on Friday, August 24, 2018 at approximately 8:25 P.M. on Whispering Woods Drive in rural Demotte, Indiana.
On Saturday, August 25, 2018 the on-going investigation of the female deceased victim, produced evidence that the victim was killed by her husband who was identified as Joseph Carmen Borgia, age 35 of Demotte, Indiana. Borgia had been taken into custody at approximately 8:45 P.M. on August 24, 2018 by Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies at the suspect’s residence. Borgia was found outside the residence with blood residue on his person and in a highly agitated state along with two minor children that belonged to the Borgia couple.
The minor children were immediately taken into protective custody by Law Enforcement personnel and Keener Medics until Child Protective Services arrived and conducted their needed duties.
Investigation further concluded that the victim, Amanda L. Borgia, age 35 of Demotte, Indiana had died from stab wounds received while she was inside the marital residence. Amanda’s body was taken into custody by Jasper County Coroner’s Office pending a forensic examination.
Investigation continues by Jasper County Sheriff’s Detectives and Indiana State Police Crime Scene Evidence Technicians. Borgia has been charged with the crime of Murder, Level 1 Felony, Domestic Battery, Level 5 Felony and Child Neglect, Level 6 Felony and is currently being held at the Jasper County Law Enforcement Detention Center with no bond.
ALL SUSPECTS ARE CONSIDERED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
