On Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at approximately 12:45 A.M. Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on Candlewick Road in Demotte, Indiana to a disturbance that reportedly involved a home invasion and firearm.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies began an investigation which determined that the facts did not support a home invasion but rather a drug deal that went bad.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a juvenile offender in the residence on Candlewick Road allegedly set up a sale of several ounces of marijuana to another party not associated with the residence.  Sometime prior to the 911 call, four subjects entered the Candlewick residence and attempted to take the marijuana without payment.

A physical altercation ensued and the four subjects fled the residence, however, at least one returned and broke a window out of the residence.  Also taken during the fight, was a black handgun and it was discovered to be an airsoft replica pistol which was brandish during the altercation. Sheriff Deputies along with Jasper County Narcotics’ Detectives applied for and received a search warrant for the residence in question.

Upon conducting the search warrant of the residence evidence of narcotic possession and usage were found throughout the home.  The following subjects that were located in the Candlewick Road residence were taken into custody on the following charges:
