On June 10th, 2017, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence located in rural Jasper County reference an “open door” on a vacant residence.  Deputies met with the Complainant whom advised that he regularly checks the residence of a deceased relative and found that a door on the residence was now open and not as he had observed previously.


Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Complainant, checked the residence to find that it was currently unoccupied however; forced entry had been used and entry gained into not only the residence but into the detached garage as-well.  Items had been stolen from both areas.


The Complainant advised that the residence had a surveillance video system.  After viewing hours of surveillance video footage, video evidence of the Suspect emerged.  The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department posted photographs of the Suspect on its Facebook page requested that anyone whom might be able to identify the Suspect to contact the department.  Many tips were received with the Suspect eventually being identified as Kelly L. Hickman 53 years of age residing in Monon, IN.


The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Detectives were able to use this information, along with other pertinent information gleaned through their investigation, to obtain a Search Warrant of Kelly L. Hickman’s residence in Monon along with an Arrest Warrant for Kelly L. Hickman.


On June 29th, 2017, Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Detectives, along with the assistance of the Monon Town Marshal and the White County Sheriff’s Department, responded to Kelly L. Hickman’s residence and executed both the Search Warrant and Arrest Warrant.  Kelly L. Hickman was at that time taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center and incarcerated for the charge of Burglary, a Level 4 felony.
