PRESS RELEASE

February 22, 2017

On February 21st, 2017, at 9:08 AM, the Jasper County Sheriffs’ Office received a burglary and theft complaint from St. Joseph College Security Officers.  Jasper County Sheriffs’ Deputies responded to a storage area in the Powerhouse, where the incident was reported to have occurred.

The investigation revealed that sometime on or about Sunday February 19th, person(s) had forced entry into a storage room at the Powerhouse building and removed four public address speakers, valued by security officials at $400.00 per speaker.  Evidence at the scene indicated two distinctive shoe prints on the doors that had been kicked open and electronic identifiers from the colleges’ Wi-Fi devices located at the scene of the burglary.

From this information and with the assistance of St. Joseph security personnel, Deputies proceeded to a dorm room in the Merlini Building occupied by subject identified as Marcus J. Fierek, age 19.  Upon advice of rights, and locating one of the speakers under Mr. Fiereks’ bed, he admitted to the deputies of being involved in the entry and theft of the speakers.

This information led to four additional suspects all of whom were St. Joseph College students and the recovery of the remaining three speakers.

Arrested at the scene and transported to the Jasper County Law Enforcement and Detention Center were the following suspects:

Marcus J. Fierek, age 19 of Brownsburg, IN

Elijah T. Kerr, age 20 of Boca Raton, FL.

Hayden C. Maddox, age 19 of Wingate, IN

Kivahni L. Myers, age 18 of Indianapolis, IN

Fanuel T. Teclai, age 20 of Skokie, IL

All of the suspects were charged with Burglary – Level 5 Felony and Theft – Level 6 Felony .  Bond was set for the suspects at $15,000.00 surety or $1,500.00 cash.

ALL SUSPECTS ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
