On Monday, January 9, 2017 at approximately 10:45 P.M. Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a burglary alarm at the Franciscan Health Center on State Road 10 west of Wheatfield.  Responding Sheriffs’ deputies located a broken window and evidence of entry along with theft from the facility.  Some of the physical evidence located indicated that the perpetrator had cut themselves on broken glass along with boot prints leading into the business.

Later at approximately 12:27 A.M. Demotte Police Department responded to a burglar alarm at the Family Express Convenient store within the town limits of Demotte.  Upon arrival, Demotte Police found that entry had been gained through a broken glass door and several items were missing from the business including the lottery ticket display on the counter.  Physical evidence and video evidence revealed a silver Chevy Impala with five spoke rims pull in front of the entry point and a male subject wearing bib overalls and a gray hooded sweatshirt force entry into the business.  Additional evidence indicated the same perpetrator had committed the Franciscan Health Center break in earlier in the evening.

At 1:54 A.M. on January 10, 2017 Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy observed the silver Impala on State Road 10 near the Kankakee Valley High School.  The suspect vehicle was stopped after the Deputy observed erratic vehicle operation.  The operator was identified as Keith W. Pollock, age 26 of Wheatfield, Indiana.  In addition, Pollock was wearing clothing that matched the video surveillance of the Family Express break in and the vehicle interior had lottery tickets scattered throughout said interior.

Pollock was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Law Enforcement Detention Center where he is currently being held on two Counts of Burglary, a Level 5 Felony and two Counts of Theft, a Class A Misdemeanor, and two Counts Criminal Mischief, a Class A Misdemeanor.

The investigation continues by Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Demotte Police Department.
